Old House of Siiao Family

The Old House of Siiao Family, located in Jiadong Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan, is a historical residence built between 1860 and 1880 by the Siiao family, who emigrated from Guangdong. This impressive structure showcases traditional Hakka architecture, featuring two courtyards and five blocks, including an entrance hall and rooms for ancestral worship. The house spans over 4,000 m2 and contains more than 50 rooms. Notably, it bears marks of historical conflict, with bullet holes from local unrest during the Japanese occupation still visible on its walls. Recognized as a Class 3 historical site, it offers a glimpse into Taiwan's rich cultural heritage and architectural history, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
