Walters Ranch Hop Kiln

The Walters Ranch Hop Kiln, established in 1905 in Sonoma, California, is a significant historical site recognized as California Historical Landmark No. 627. Built by Italian stonemason Angelo Soldini, this site features three stone kilns used for drying hops, essential for beer production. The property also includes a wooden cooling building and a two-story press for baling hops. Once a major hop production area, the site reflects Sonoma County's agricultural history before hops declined due to disease. Landmark Vineyards acquired the property in 2016 and is currently restoring the buildings, which include an 1888 sheep barn and an Italianate house. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is marked for its historical significance.
