Moose Jaw Civic Centre

The Moose Jaw Civic Centre, a notable multi-purpose arena in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, operated from 1959 until 2012 and was renowned for its unique cable structure roof, earning it the nickname 'The Crushed Can.' Designed by architect Joseph Pettick, the arena was home to the Moose Jaw Warriors junior ice hockey team and hosted significant events, including a gala opening featuring Louis Armstrong. Built on a modest budget, it was the largest cable structure in Canada at the time. Following its closure, plans for redevelopment emerged, leading to its demolition in 2012, making way for new buildings that echo its iconic design.
