Geno's Steaks - neon counter and neighborhood rivalry

Geno's Steaks was opened by Joey Vento in 1966 and is located directly across from Pat's at the intersection of 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue. Its neon-lit counter and 24-hour service made it a familiar late-night destination for neighborhood residents. The pair of shops has long been a subject of local debate over which makes the better cheesesteak.
