Charles Piggott House

The Charles Piggott House, also known as Piggott's Castle, is a unique historic building in southwest Portland, Oregon, recognized for its Romanesque Revival architecture. Constructed in 1892 by local brick manufacturer Charles Henry Piggott, it features impressive design elements such as eleven-foot ceilings, a crenellated parapet, and a tower room. Originally named 'Gleall Castle' after Piggott's children, the house reflects a blend of personal history and architectural inspiration from Roman fortresses. Despite its early sale due to economic challenges, it has been preserved and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in Portland's architectural heritage.
