Mitchell-Maskrey Mill

The Mitchell-Maskrey Mill, located in Maquoketa, Iowa, is a historic site with roots dating back to 1838 when the first milling operation was established in the area. The current three-story brick structure was built in 1886 around an old church, which was dismantled upon completion. The mill has been continuously operational under various owners, with the name Mitchell-Maskrey Co. adopted in 1912. It is the only industrial building in Maquoketa's central business district and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Visitors can explore its rich history, although it suffered damage from a fire in 2008.
