Seagram Building

Completed in 1958 and designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe with Philip Johnson, the Seagram Building is a seminal example of International Style corporate architecture in mid-20th-century Manhattan. Its bronze-and-tinted-glass façade and set-back public plaza became influential models for subsequent office towers and urban plazas. The building is notable for its high degree of material refinement and minimalist aesthetic that contrasted with earlier ornamented skyscrapers.
