FossiLab public fossil preparation laboratory

FossiLab is a publicly visible laboratory inside the National Museum of Natural History where paleontologists and preparators clean, conserve, and prepare fossil specimens behind a glass window for museum visitors to observe. The lab was established to give the public direct access to behind-the-scenes specimen work and frequently features active preparation and research demonstrations. FossiLab supports both collections care and research that feed into the museum's fossil exhibits.
