The Cathcart

The Cathcart is a historic apartment building located at 103 E. 9th St. in Indianapolis, Indiana, built in 1909 during a significant apartment-building boom. Noted for its architectural significance, it exemplifies the 'Eastern' flat type and features deep red brick and grey limestone with Arts and Crafts detailing. Originally the site of a cottage gifted to Robert and Alice Cathcart in 1870, the building was constructed by Mrs. Cathcart after her husband's passing, showcasing her determination. In 1983, The Cathcart was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, highlighting its architectural importance and role in the commercial development of downtown Indianapolis.
