The Boardman

The Boardman is a historic series of rowhouses located at 39-53 Montana Street in North Adams, Massachusetts. Constructed between 1899 and 1901, it is notable for its elaborate Colonial Revival architecture and was one of the city's most significant multiunit buildings at the time. The structure features nine townhouse-style units with distinct architectural elements such as porches, bay windows, and a unique servant staircase. Built by developer Walter Penniman in response to housing demands from the nearby Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, The Boardman was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
