Convento Building (Mission San Fernando)

The Convento Building, constructed between 1808 and 1822, is the only original structure remaining at Mission San Fernando Rey de España in California. Notable for its impressive arched portico with 20 arches, it is the largest adobe building in California and served as a residence for missionaries. The building has a rich history, having been occupied by California's first bishop and later used as a military base during the American occupation. Despite periods of decay, it has undergone several restorations, most recently after the 1971 San Fernando earthquake. Today, it stands as a significant historical landmark, recognized for its architectural and cultural importance.
