Palazzo Parisio (Valletta)

Palazzo Parisio, located on Merchants Street in Valletta, Malta, is a historic palace built in the 1740s by Domenico Sceberras. It served as Napoleon's residence for six days during the French occupation in 1798 and has a rich history involving notable families such as the Muscati and de Piro. The palace has housed various government offices, including the General Post Office until 1973, and currently serves as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Architecturally, it features a blend of neoclassical and baroque styles, with an elaborate façade and a central courtyard. The interior boasts stunning frescoes by Maltese artist Antonaci Grech, although some were lost during World War II. Palazzo Parisio is recognized as a Grade 1 national monument and is undergoing refurbishment to preserve its historical significance.
