Fisk Jubilee Singers at Fisk University

The Fisk Jubilee Singers formed at Fisk University in 1871 to raise funds for the school and to preserve and present African-American spirituals. Their international tours in the 1870s brought national and global attention to Negro spirituals and raised significant fundraising support for Fisk University. The group is historically tied to Fisk's campus and continues to perform and maintain archives documenting their history.
