Fort Negley Park (Civil War fort ruins)

Fort Negley is a Civil War–era fortification constructed by Union forces in 1862 to help occupy and defend Nashville; it is commonly described as the largest inland stone fort built in the South during the war. The site includes the remaining stone walls, archaeological features, interpretive signage, and a visitor area within Fort Negley Park. The park hosts public programs and serves as a historic-interpretation and recreational green space in south-central Nashville.
