Hollywood Memorial Church

Hollywood Memorial Church, established in 1903, was the first congregational church in Hollywood, California, located at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Weyse Avenue. Known for its Mission Revival architecture and a prominent four-story steeple, it served as a community landmark until its demolition in 1923. Originally built on land that was once a lemon grove, the church was purchased by A.Z. Taft Jr. for $125,000, leading to the construction of the Taft Building. This historical site reflects the early development of Hollywood and its cultural heritage.
