San Francisco Cable Cars - the world's last manually operated cable car system

San Francisco's cable car system is the world's last manually operated cable car system still in regular transit service, originally opened in the 1870s. It continues to operate on several historic lines and is both a working transit system and a designated National Historic Landmark. The Cable Car Museum preserves the system's original winding machinery and a collection of historic cars.
