Hempstead Watermill

Hempstead Watermill, located 1.7 miles southeast of Holt in Norfolk, England, is a historic disused watermill built in 1830. Originally named Holt Watermill, it features local brick and flint construction with distinctive red Norfolk pantiled roofs. The mill harnessed the power of the River Glaven, utilizing a water wheel until 1905 when it was upgraded to a turbine. The site includes a large mill pond and various outbuildings, including a bakery established in 1911, capable of producing 208 loaves of bread at a time. Although no longer operational, the mill's rich history and picturesque setting make it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
