Ysleta Mission - oldest continuously operated parish in Texas

Mission Ysleta del Sur traces its origins to a Tigua (Tiwa) community displaced during the Pueblo Revolt and is documented as the oldest continuously operated parish in Texas. The present church building on the mission complex has been rebuilt over centuries but the site maintains a continuous religious presence dating to the late 17th century. The mission remains an active parish and a focal point of the Ysleta community’s cultural and religious life.
