Elitch Gardens (origins 1890; current downtown park site)

Elitch Gardens traces its origins to John Elitch's 1890 founding of Elitch's Zoological Gardens, one of Denver's earliest amusement and cultural attractions. The amusement park business relocated to its present downtown site in the 1990s; the current Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park operates at that location, preserving continuity with the original enterprise. The site and company represent over a century of amusement-park infrastructure connected to Denver's urban history.
