Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (named for LBJ)

The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center was established by NASA as the Manned Spacecraft Center in 1961 and renamed in 1973 to honor President Lyndon B. Johnson. The center is the hub for human spaceflight training, research, and flight control for NASA missions. Its presence anchored the growth of Houston's aerospace and engineering communities during the 1960s and beyond.
