Columbus Tower (Sentinel Building) and American Zoetrope

Columbus Tower, commonly known as the Sentinel Building, is a flatiron-shaped building at the intersection of Kearny and Columbus that was constructed shortly after the 1906 earthquake and rebuilt circa 1907. The building is notable for its copper-green façade and for housing Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope film company since the late 20th century. The Sentinel Building is a recognizable architectural landmark in the North Beach area and is tied to the city's cinematic and cultural history.
