Glencairn House

Glencairn House, located in the southern suburbs of Dublin, serves as the official residence of the British Ambassador to Ireland. This historic estate has been home to successive ambassadors since the 1950s. Originally built in 1860 by George Gresson, a wealthy lawyer, the house has a rich history, including ownership by Richard Croker, a prominent figure from New York's Tammany Hall. The estate is notable for its role in Dublin's social life during the early 20th century and has undergone various ownership changes, including a significant sale in 1999. The nearby Luas Sandyford line, which began operating in 2010, includes a stop named Glencairn, enhancing accessibility to this historic site.
