Regional Historical Museum of Cusco

The Regional Historical Museum of Cusco, housed in the birthplace of the renowned chronicler Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, offers a fascinating glimpse into Peru's rich history. Established as a museum in 1946, it features a diverse collection of ceramics, paintings, metals, and textiles across 13 rooms. Visitors can explore paleontological and archaeological artifacts from the pre-Hispanic era on the first level, while the second level showcases items from the viceregal, republican, and contemporary periods. Notably, two rooms dedicated to the Prehistoric and Pre-Hispanic periods were inaugurated in January 2014, enhancing the museum's appeal for both tourists and researchers.
