Bergdoll Mansion

The Bergdoll Mansion, a historic house in Philadelphia's Spring Garden neighborhood, was designed by architect James H. Windrim and completed in 1886. This impressive Beaux Arts/Italianate style residence was home to the Louis Bergdoll family, known for their City Park Brewery. Notably, Grover Cleveland Bergdoll, a controversial figure for his draft dodging during World War I, was apprehended here in 1920. Spanning 14,000 square feet, the mansion features eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and exquisite details like mahogany woodwork and frescoes. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and has a rich history, including a fire that damaged it in 1989.
