French Legation (Republic of Texas diplomatic residence)

The French Legation was built in 1841–1842 as the residence and diplomatic legation of France to the Republic of Texas. It is one of the oldest surviving frame structures in Austin and is the only surviving foreign legation building from the Republic of Texas period. The house now operates as a museum interpreting early Austin and Republic-era history.
