Wilson Log House

The Wilson Log House is a historic single-story log structure located in rural Macon County, North Carolina, built around 1882 by Jeremiah Wilson. This rare surviving example of period log architecture features dovetail joins and red mud chinking, measuring approximately 18' by 20'. The interior includes a large chamber and a loft area under a gable roof. The house remained in the Wilson family until the 1950s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998, during a period of historically sensitive restoration. It offers a glimpse into the region's architectural heritage and is situated just west of Highlands, making it an interesting stop for tourists and researchers alike.
