Arsenal (Central Park)

The Arsenal is a historic brick building located in Central Park, Manhattan, built between 1847 and 1851 as a storehouse for the New York State Militia. Designed by Martin E. Thompson, it features Gothic Revival details and is the second-oldest structure in Central Park. The building has served various purposes over the years, including housing the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and an art gallery. Notable interior elements include murals depicting Civil War-era New York life.
