Willis Hall (Carleton College)

Willis Hall is a historic building located on the Carleton College campus in Northfield, Minnesota. Constructed in the late 19th century, it was the first building specifically built for the college, funded by generous donations from benefactors William and Susan Willis Carleton. Designed in the French Second Empire style, it originally served as a men's dormitory, chapel, and lecture space. After a devastating fire in 1879, it was rebuilt with enhancements. From 1954 to 1979, it functioned as the campus student union, and today it houses various academic departments, including American Studies and Environmental Studies, making it a central hub for student life and learning.
