National Palace (Dominican Republic)

The National Palace, located in Santo Domingo, serves as the executive branch's headquarters in the Dominican Republic. Designed by Italian architect Guido D'Alessandro in a neoclassical style, it was constructed between 1944 and 1947, marking a significant architectural achievement in the country. The palace, covering 18,000 square meters, is renowned for its luxurious interiors and is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, it gained fame as a filming location for The Godfather Part II, particularly the iconic Hall of the Caryatids, where a pivotal scene unfolds.
