The Alamo (Mission San Antonio de Valero)

The Alamo, originally Mission San Antonio de Valero founded in 1718, is the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution (February 23–March 6, 1836). The surviving chapel and surrounding structures are preserved as a historic site and museum that interprets the mission period and the battle. The site is administered by the Texas General Land Office as The Alamo Complex and remains one of San Antonio's most visited attractions.
