City Tavern (recreation of the 18th-century tavern)

The original City Tavern opened in 1773 and was a well-known gathering place for Philadelphia’s colonial and Revolutionary-era leaders. A reconstructed City Tavern building on the historic site reopened in 1976 and operates as a restaurant and museum that presents 18th-century dining practices, historic recipes, and period interpretation.
