Old State House

Completed in 1713, the Old State House served as the seat of colonial and later state government and is one of Boston's oldest public buildings. The Boston Massacre of March 5, 1770 occurred on the street in front of the Old State House, and the building now houses exhibits about Boston's colonial and Revolutionary history. It stands at a historic junction on the Freedom Trail and operates as a history museum open to visitors.
