Atkinson Hall (Geneseo, Illinois)

Atkinson Hall is a historic building in Geneseo, Illinois, constructed in 1892 for the music department of the Geneseo Collegiate Institute, a Presbyterian college preparatory school. Designed by architect J.E. Hosford in the Romanesque Revival style, the striking red brick structure features a pyramidal tower and arched windows. After the college closed in 1922, it became the American Legion Hall. Recognized for its architectural significance, Atkinson Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
