Lingholm

Lingholm is a historic country house located just outside Portinscale in Cumbria, England, built between 1871 and 1875 for Lt. Col. James Fenton Greenall. Notable for its unique architecture by Alfred Waterhouse, the house has a rich history, including its use as a hospital during World War I. It is famously associated with Beatrix Potter, who spent her summers there and drew inspiration for her beloved stories, including The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The property features a beautiful water garden designed by Bertram Symons-Jeune and was designated Grade II on the National Heritage List for England in 2013, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers alike.
