Omaha Athletic Club

The Omaha Athletic Club, established in 1918 in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, was a prominent social club designed by architect John Latenser & Sons. This ten-story building featured an Italian design with luxurious amenities including a main dining room, lounges, a ballroom, a bowling alley, and a billiards room. It also housed a gymnasium, a rooftop garden for dances, and a unique nine-hole golf course in the basement. Renowned chef Rinaldo 'Reno' Sibilia served for 49 years, creating beloved dishes for its 2,000 members. Despite its initial success, the club closed in 1970 due to declining memberships and was ultimately demolished in 1992 to make way for a federal courthouse. The club's rich history and architectural significance make it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
