Pallinsburn House

Pallinsburn House is an exquisite 18th-century country house located in Crookham, Northumberland, England. Built around 1763 in a striking Jacobean style, this Grade II* listed building was originally commissioned by John Askew, a notable figure who served as High Sheriff of Northumberland. The Askew family resided here until 1911, when it was sold to Major Charles Mitchell, who undertook significant renovations, including the controversial removal of the third storey in 1933. In 2005, the estate was sold along with 1,500 acres for £6.5 million, with its contents fetching £840,000 at auction the following year. The name 'Pallinsburn' is derived from the nearby river, linked to the historical figure Saint Paulinus, who is said to have baptized locals in the area.
