Trylon and Perisphere

The Trylon and Perisphere were iconic structures of the 1939 New York World's Fair, designed by architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux. The Perisphere, a massive sphere housing a futuristic diorama called Democracity, and the towering Trylon, connected by the world's longest escalator at the time, served as the fair's Theme Center. Visitors experienced a vision of a utopian future while moving through these modernist designs. Although both structures were temporary and demolished after the fair, they became symbols of the event and were widely reproduced in promotional materials. Today, the Unisphere stands where the Perisphere once was, continuing the legacy of innovation and imagination that the fair represented.
