Ponizovsky House

Ponizovsky House, located at 42 Povarskaya Street in Moscow's Arbat district, serves as the Embassy of Afghanistan. Originally designed by Lev Kekushev in the early 20th century, the building has undergone significant alterations, losing its original Art Nouveau features. The embassy represents the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and has been operational since the Taliban's takeover in 2021. The house is notable for its historical significance and architectural evolution, having transitioned from a luxury mansion to a diplomatic mission, reflecting the changing political landscape in Afghanistan and its relations with Russia.
