Oder Gate, Brzeg

The Oder Gate is a historic triumphal arch located in Brzeg, Poland, built in 1595 as part of a late Renaissance fortification system by Italian architects Bernard and Peter Niuron. Constructed from sandstone, it served to protect the nearby Brzeg Castle from the Oder River. Although it was decommissioned in 1895, the gate remains a significant architectural landmark, featuring the inscription 'VERBUM DOMINI MANET IN AETERNUM,' which translates to 'The word of the Lord endures forever.' Today, it is situated in a nearby castle park, making it an intriguing site for tourists and researchers interested in history and architecture.
