Mission San José - buried foundations and occupational deposits

Archaeological work at Mission San José has documented buried adobe footings, foundation trenches, and artifact-bearing deposits associated with the 18th-century mission complex and associated indigenous workshops. Excavations and subsurface surveys have revealed buried walls, pathways, and occupation layers beneath the mission grounds and surrounding fields.
