Susina Plantation

Susina Plantation, located near Beachton, Georgia, is a historic antebellum Greek Revival house set on 140 acres. Originally named Cedar Grove, it was built in the 1840s by James Joseph Blackshear and completed by his wife, Harriet, who became a prominent planter. The plantation has a rich history, transitioning from a productive cotton and rice farm to a hunting lodge for wealthy industrialists in the late 19th century. Renamed Susina by Dr. John Metcalfe, the property features stunning architecture with a notable Ionic portico. Today, it is a private residence and has hosted various historical events, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
