Grand Hotel, Buenos Aires

The Grand Hotel, once a symbol of luxury in Buenos Aires, opened in 1901 at the bustling intersection of Rivadavia and Florida streets. Designed by architect Augusto Plou, it showcased French Academic architecture and attracted notable figures from politics and culture, including Rubén Darío. Despite its initial success, the rise of international hotels led to a decline in popularity, and it was converted into apartments in 1948. Ultimately, the hotel was demolished in the 1960s to make way for the Palacio de las Sociedades Anónimas. Today, the site reflects the city's rich history and architectural evolution.
