Fort Benjamin Harrison

Fort Benjamin Harrison was established as a U.S. Army post northeast of Indianapolis in 1906 and remained an active military installation until it was closed in 1991. During its operation it served as an induction, training, and administrative center, hosting schools such as the Army Adjutant General's School and the Chaplain School and supporting troop mobilizations for World War I and World War II. After closure, parts of the post were converted to Fort Harrison State Park and a historic district preserving several former military buildings.
