This two-story brick dwelling features a striking two-story Greek Doric portico and was originally constructed for George Plater Tayloe and his wife, Mary. The property, which has historical ties to notable figures in Virginia's plantation history, was acquired by the City of Roanoke in 1937 and transformed into a city park and recreation center. Buena Vista was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
