Gilbert Building (Beaumont, Texas)

The Gilbert Building, a historic four-story Sullivanesque structure in downtown Beaumont, Texas, was constructed in 1902 by architect George B. Stowe for John N. Gilbert. Originally home to Gulf National Bank, it showcases architectural significance and is part of the Beaumont Commercial District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it underwent renovations in 1926, the building has been abandoned since July 2010 and suffered a significant fire in June 2024, marking a poignant chapter in its storied history.
