21 West Bay Street

21 West Bay Street is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, completed in 1821 as the City Hotel, the first hotel in the city. Designed by architect William Jay, the building features elegant interiors with marble mantels and a grand staircase. It served as a hub for early postal services and banking, and hosted military dinners and notable events throughout its history. Despite facing challenges, including a fire during construction and financial difficulties, the hotel remained operational through significant periods, including the yellow fever epidemic of 1854.
