Government Canyon State Natural Area - Edwards Plateau canyon and recharge features

Government Canyon State Natural Area protects a rugged portion of the Edwards Plateau and includes prominent karst features such as sinkholes, caves, and a dissected canyon landscape. The preserve lies within the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone and helps protect groundwater resources for the San Antonio area. The park contains more than 40 miles of trails across grassland and live oak–juniper habitats, illustrating an abrupt local transition from urban to rugged plateau terrain.
