Mission San Antonio de Valero (The Alamo) - historic military installation

Mission San Antonio de Valero, known as the Alamo, was established in 1718 as a Spanish mission and later used as a military outpost in the 19th century. It was the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution, a documented historical event. The mission complex and plaza are preserved as a historic site open to the public.
