Marvin Tavern

The Marvin Tavern, also known as the Matthew Marvin House, is a historic site located in Wilton, Connecticut, dating back to around 1760. This charming 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure features a distinctive hip roof and a large central chimney. A notable highlight is its porch, added around 1880, adorned with turned posts and decorative jigsawn brackets. Architectural historians find its flared eaves particularly interesting, as such features were uncommon in the region prior to the 19th century. The tavern was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it a worthwhile visit for tourists and researchers alike.
