Walnut Street Theatre

Opened in 1809, the Walnut Street Theatre is commonly cited as the oldest continuously operating theatre in the United States. The building has hosted theatrical productions, operas, and other performances for more than two centuries and retains historic theater infrastructure updated through periodic renovations. It remains an active performance venue and a designated historic site within Center City Philadelphia.
